Membership

Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.  We have different gifts, according to the grace given us."

First Presbyterian Church of Durango would like to offer you the opportunity to become a member in our growing church family.  Membership begins by contacting the pastor or any member of the Session. New Member classes are offered throughout the year.  These informal classes consist of information regarding: the Presbyterian denomination and its history, First Presbyterian Church and its style of leadership, and the many programs offered. At the conclusion of the classes, if you choose to become a member, you will be asked to affirm or reaffirm your faith in Jesus Christ before the Session and the congregation. Confirmation classes for young adults in the 7th and 8th grades are also offered.  These classes prepare the individual for accepting the responsibility of membership in the church. Affiliate Memberships are for those who live part-time in Durango and belong to a church family where their other “part-time” home is located.
