As a part of our commitment to mission, the Session of the First Presbyterian Church has agreed to increase mission giving 1% each year. In 2007 we will give 22% of the church operating budget to mission beyond the local church. In addition, we hold an annual Mission Dinner & Auction to raise funds for a selected mission concern. In 2006,  we raised $13,131.51 for Mi Refugio, a school for children who live in the Guatamala City dump.

Our Deacons are allotted 20% ($14,432 in 2006) of our total mission budget to use in our local community. We encourage members of the congregation to give volunteer time to various Christian mission organizations within our community among which are the Manna Soup Kitchen and Durango Food Bank. We are sponsors of a weekly program, Food For Thought, which provides lunch and spiritual discussion to Durango High School students.
