Please join us in the Library/prayer room on the 2nd floor on Wednesdays at 2:00pm during Lent. An Adult Book Study led by John Welton
Last Wednesday, we began our look at Altar in the World by Barbara Brown Taylor. The book is a good focus on spiritual practices for Lent. This short book takes a look at ways we can find our footing in faith.
We started with these chapters: The Practice of Waking Up to God (Vision), The Practice of Paying Attention (Reverence), and the Practice of Saying No (Sabbath). Then we went on to cover Chapter 3 The Practice of Wearing Skin (Incarnation), and Chapter 4 The Practice of Walking the Earth (Groundedness). Next, we plan to look at The Practice of Getting Lost (Wilderness), The Practice of Encountering Others (Community), and The Practice of Living with Purpose (Vocation).
Taylor’s book gives us bite-size modern practices that can feed us spiritually. Barbara’s poetic style and keen observation gives us a geography of faith.
Join me afternoons in Lent.

Copies of the book are available at the class. I look forward to seeing everyone on Wednesdays at 2pm.
