We live in a world of anxiety. We as a church are particularly anxious these days—anxious to the point we are often left feeling insecure in our faith. It seems that the odds are stacked against us. Try as we might (and we do!) we lose more ground than we gain much of the time. Our numbers are down. Our age demographic is moving the wrong direction. And we don’t know what to do. Lucky for us John was familiar with church anxiety himself, and the issues the first century church faced are not entirely from our own. So, what does he suggest we do with all this anxiety that leads to insecurity. It’s pretty simple, but we often forget. Let’s be a reminder to each other! I can’t wait to talk more about it on Sunday!
Grace and Peace,
