Letter from Pastor John Welton

Dear Members and Friends,

These next three weeks in September we will dive back into the Old Testament. We will look at changes in life, homecoming of sorts, and naming. This week we will travel with Jacob as he faces the anxiety of reuniting with a brother he has wronged. He stands in the night by the river Jabbok, full of worries. He then wrestles with a mysterious opponent.  When the dawn is coming and the assailant’s identity will be revealed. Jacob instead of making the opponent cry “uncle” he asks for a blessing. Jacob is blessed with a new name and identity of Israel. He will fully enter the promised land reconcile with his brother and live with his family. Join us this week as we share in communion and are thankful we do not have to physically wrestle with our faith.

 Have a wonderful weekend.

Peace,

Pastor John Welton
