Letter from Pastor John Welton

Dear Members and Friends,

This week we will take a look at the familiar story of the Good Samaritan. This parable has become iconic in the last 55 years. I believe it is because Presbyterian minister the Rev. Fred Rodgers grew up asking generations of children to look out for their neighbor on the TV show Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood! It becomes hard to recognize the revolutionary nature of this parable. We are so familiar with this story that it is hard not to think of Samaritans as being good. Or that Jesus deftly changed the question of “who is my neighbor” into “how can I be a neighbor to those in need?” Join us this week as we dive into the parable of the good Samaritan.
